Learn Colors and Body Parts by Painting Dinosaur Puzzles -- A NerdStuff Activity

Описание к видео Learn Colors and Body Parts by Painting Dinosaur Puzzles -- A NerdStuff Activity

We use a $2 wooden dinosaur puzzle to teach our kids their colors and body parts. First, we let the kids mix paint colors and paint the wooden puzzle slabs. As they mix the paints, we ask them what colors they're creating, and guide them by asking questions such as, "What happens when you mix yellow and blue?"

After the puzzle has been painted, we pop out the puzzle pieces -this is an activity that increases fine motor strength -- and try to build the dinosaur. This leads into a discussion about body parts and the names of some bones as we try to put together the dinosaur skeleton.

All and all, this is a good educational project. However, the puzzles we used were not top quality, so don't expect to keep the dinosaur skeletons after you're done. If you're looking for a similar project but with a high quality product when you're finished, I recommend buying a Melissa & Doug birdhouse, which the kids can paint (and mix colors), and then display outside on a tree.

Don't forget to stay till the end to watch the cuteness! Our one-toothed warrior princess tackles her enemies.
