Anantnag Encounter | Indian Army intensifies ‘Operation Garol’ to flush out terrorists in Kokernag

‘Operation Garol’ to flush out terrorists from ‘Garol forest’ area of Kokrenag entered day 5 in Anantnag. Northern Command Cdr Lt General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed the ongoing operation situation on the ground. Lieutenant General Dwivedi was briefed by the ground commanders on the High-Intensity Operations. Hi-tech Equipment is being used by the forces for surveillance along with the high impact of precision fire. The army used drones and quadcopters to hunt for terrorists’ hideouts in the dense forest. Army officers Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonak, and J&K Police DSP Bhat laid down their lives in the line of duty on September 13. A soldier who had been reported missing since September 16 has lost his life in the ongoing encounter. The Indian Army and J&K Police launched joint ‘Operation Garol’ on the intervening night of 12-13 September. Earlier, ADGP Kashmir also specified that a specific input-based operation is underway and all the trapped terrorists would be neutralized.
