HIKING GOLDBUG HOT SPRINGS | Road Trip to Salmon, Idaho

Описание к видео HIKING GOLDBUG HOT SPRINGS | Road Trip to Salmon, Idaho

Thanksgiving morning 2020! Tessa and I decided that for the holiday this year, we were going to take off on a road trip to celebrate. We reached Salmon, ID late Wednesday evening, and headed south towards Challis towards the Goldbug Hot Springs trailhead. We were familiar with this area slightly as this was the same route we took when we explored the Sawtooth Mountains last year. Knowing what we did, we remembered seeing a ton of pullout “camping” spots off of Highway 93 next to the river. I had previously used Google Earth to find potential areas to camp out and then I marked them on the map so we had an idea of where to stop to look for a spot.

We arrived to our pullout spot right around 10:30PM. IT. WAS. COLD. The air was crisp and the stars illuminated the area in which we could call home for the night. We’re pretty used to car camping by now, but car camping in the snow and 15 degree weather was a whole new ballgame. Thankfully we were prepared, and stayed mostly warm that night. We awoke pretty early, turned the car on, and headed towards the Goldbug Hot Springs Trailhead which was only a four minute drive! We arrived to the trailhead, ate breakfast, and took off for the springs! It took us 59 minutes and 1.9 miles to reach the springs. We also gained 700’ in elevation to get there. The hike is mainly flat, though the last stretch to get to the springs has a moderate climb to get there. We spent about five hours soaking up the perfect water and amazing scenery. The cheese board and Moscow Mules made for the finishing touch.

This video is a short and scenic, HD video that highlights the trip and Goldbug Hot Springs. A longer, more of a VLOG styled video will come soon!
