Lummis House | California's Gold | KCET

Описание к видео Lummis House | California's Gold | KCET

Working in partnership with Chapman University, which owns the rights to the Huell Howser Archive since the time of Howser’s death in 2013, KCET edited together the new episode from Chapman’s archival footage. The undiscovered episode follows the much-adored Howser on a guided tour through “El Alisal,” built from 1896-1910 entirely by the hands of Lummis using stones and granite boulders gathered from the Arroyo, as well as concrete and wood. The home is now a museum listed with the National Register of Historical Places in northeast Los Angeles and operated by the City of Los Angeles’ Recreation and Parks Department. Shot in the series’ traditional informal interview style with a single, hand-held microphone and one cameraman, Howser explores the history of the home and examines its artifacts including Spanish folk songs that have been preserved in wax cylinders followed by a recreation of the wax cylinder recording process with modern musicians.
