Pouakai Circuit [NZ] | Hiking with kids (New Zealand on CHRISTMAS!)

For our first Christmas as a US expat family in New Zealand, we hiked the 25 km Pouakai Circuit by the stunning Mount Taranaki. The 3-day, 2-night hike was definitely a challenge for all of us - including our 4 year old! I think we may have walked up and down more stairs in those three days than the rest of our lives combined. While this hike has definitely earned it’s “Advanced” status, we wouldn’t have wanted to spend the holiday in NZ any other way.
