Chinese cymbals (镲 chǎ or 钹 bó) are frequently used in percussion ensembles alongside drums and gongs. The Monologue series delves into the potential of these Chinese percussion instruments by highlighting them individually. It commences with a pair of small Chinese cymbals (小镲 xiǎo chǎ). In addition to conventional playing techniques, the performer is challenged to employ extended techniques such as striking various sections of the cymbals using diverse methods (fingernails, tapping, among others), simultaneous singing and playing, and more.

中国钹（或镲 ）经常与鼓和锣一起在打击乐队中使用。《独角戏》系列深入挖掘这些中国打击乐器的潜力，通过突出它们的个别特点。它以一对小镲作为系列的起头。除了传统的演奏技巧外，表演者还被挑战使用延伸技巧，如使用各种方法（指甲、轻拍等）敲击钹的不同部分，同时唱歌和演奏等。
