Arrival Honors and Signing of the Guest Book of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam of Singapore

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. formally welcomes His Excellency Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore, as the latter embarks on his first State Visit to the Philippines from 15-17 August 2024.

Accompanied by First Lady Jane Yumiko Ittogi Shanmugaratnam and the rest of the Singaporean delegation, President Shanmugaratnam is accorded with arrival honors and signs the guest book in Malacañan Palace before proceeding to a bilateral meeting with President Marcos Jr.

Anchored on renewing the robust collaboration between the Philippines and Singapore that has existed for more than five (5) decades, both leaders are expected to discuss several matters that strengthen bilateral and multilateral relations of the two nations, particularly in the fields of energy and healthcare, among others.

Moreover, President Marcos Jr. and President Shanmugaratnam are set to witness the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), including the recruitment of Filipino healthcare workers, as well as both countries' collaboration on climate change financing.

This year marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the Philippines and Singapore. It was formally established on May 16, 1969.
