The 2000 Busch season would have one of the biggest cases of driver domination. Early on, the Buschwhacking trio of Mark Martin, Jeff Burton, and Matt Kenseth would dominate, winning 6 of the first 7 races. However, as the season progressed, perennial Busch series driver Jeff Green would rise above the rest, scoring 6 wins and winning the championship by a record 616 points. Kevin Harvick and Jimmie Johnson would have their rookie seasons that year, with Johnson finishing 10th in points and Harvick winning 3 races and finishing 3rd in points.
