Click, makers of India’s most popular fountain pens, was the proud supplier of the writing instruments at the G-20 4th Education Working Group Meeting held in Pune in June 2023. 300 Click fountain pens were given out by the organisers to the attending delegates who had congregated in the city from G-20 member countries, guest countries and esteemed organizations such as OECD, UNESCO and UNICEF. Additionally, Ministers from 15 countries confirmed their attendance at the Education Ministers' gathering along with senior representatives from various international organisations.

“It was a rare honour for Click” said Harsh Gagwani, the Managing Director of the Indore-based entity. “To be officially chosen to hold the Made in India flag fluttering humbles us. That the Click Renaissance and the Click Falcon models were chosen as the official writing instrument is a vindication of our commitment to production compared with the best in the world.”

The Group of Twenty (G20) is the premier forum for international economic cooperation. It plays an important role in shaping and strengthening global architecture and governance on all major international economic issues. India holds the Presidency of the G20 from 1 December 2022 to 30 November 2023. The meeting in Pune was held as a part of this initiative.

Click, established in 1978 is India’s premier manufacturer of fountain pens and is known for hugely popular models like the Aristocrat and the Renaissance which straddle almost the entire gamut of fountain pens. Apart from being one of the most visible Indian brands, as a manufacturer too, the Click name is also popular with globally renowned sellers who rely on Click to get their pens made.

“The fountain pen provides the most sustainable writing option and the way the G20 has honoured our commitment to the fountain pen, apart from giving a boost to our effort to popularise the use of fountain pens, especially among the younger generations is indeed commendable,” said Harsh Gagwani. It will not be out of place to mention here the fact that the world is reeling under the pressure of discarded use-and-throw plastic pens which are adding to our climate woes and entities like Click are waging a ceaseless battle to bring the fountain pen and ink back. As a matter of fact, often the battle is also against digital devices which are robbing our children of the habit of writing with their hands, slowly pushing them towards a black hole of digital damnation.

“Writing with a fountain pen can also act as a catharsis, offering a kind of digital detoxification” said Harsh Gagwani, “and I am sure that this honour, bestowed upon Click by the international community will go a long way in strengthening the fight to restore the fountain pen in its rightful place and give a fillip to the fledgling industry in India.”
