Dispute Settlement Program for Orange and Osceola Counties

The Orange County Bar Association runs the Dispute Settlement Program which is free to all residents of Orange and Osceola Counties.

David: Hi. I had a problem with a towing company. My son had his vehicle towed from private property and it appears as if the towing company did some things that might have violated the state statute. I'm trying to get my money back from them for doing those things. I guess, would I have to take it to small claims court or do I get an attorney for that? I mean, it's $200 and it's looking up as a dispute.

Attorney Tom Olsen: Okay. David, good news. The Orange County Bar Association in Orlando, Florida has a free Dispute Settlement program available to you. It is available to all residents of Orange County and Osceola County in Florida. You call the Orange County Bar Association, ask them for the Dispute Settlement program. They will call the other side, the towing company, bring you guys together with a volunteer attorney, and help you work it out. So again, residents of Orange and Osceola Counties, the Orange County Bar Association Dispute Settlement program, free to you. Call the Orange County Bar, bring you guys together with a volunteer attorney, help you work it out. David, if that does not work, then you would be in small claims court. You do not hire a lawyer over a $200 claim.
