In this webinar David Williamson Shaffer looks at the transformation of the social sciences in the age of Big Data to go beyond the old dichotomy of qualitative and quantitative methods and past simple mixtures of methods in data analysis.

David Williamson Shaffer is the Sears Bascom Professor of Learning Analytics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the Department of Educational Psychology and a Data Philosopher at the Wisconsin Center for Education Research. His work focuses on the development of Quantitative Ethnography, an approach to merging statistical and qualitative methods to construct fair models of complex and collaborative human activity.
