I purchased a collection of 1950s ho trains off eBay a few months ago and included was this Baltimore and Ohio Gp7 diesel made by Olympic Express.

A few tests revealed that it was seized. I first suspected the gear boxes to be the source of the problem however after taking it apart it was clear they were both fine. The motor on the other hand was completely frozen.

I added some oil to the bearing and managed to get it free'd up and with a bit of effort cleaning contacts the loco started up.
