In an exclusive interview to MicTv, water rights activist Dusharla Satyanarayana takes a walk down memory lane narrating crucial incidents from his formative years that led him to take up the cause he dedicated his entire life to.
His stint in Andhra Bank and Union Bank of India led him to study the state of peasants and small farmers fraught with drought conditions. Troubled by unjust water allocation to his home district of Nalgonda and neighbouring regions, Satyanarayana quit his well-paying job and forayed into activism full time. He founded Jala Sadhana Samithi in 1980. Over the years, Satyanarayana led multiple marches and protests against governments for diverting Krishna and Godavari rivers elsewhere and creating water scarcity in villages of Telangana.
In his characteristic firebrand persona, Satyanarayana reminisces crucial milestones in his life including an audience with the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
