“I Can” Pursue Success: The Story of DP Singh

Taking the opportunity to address and thank the upcoming generation of aspiring doctors and healthcare workers, and share with them his deeply inspiring story, Major DP Singh graced PGIMER with his awe-inspiring presence at our Inauguration Ceremony of the New Academic Session, January 2023. He sets a live example his motivational words of how the biggest shortcoming in one’s life can be converted into the toughest of strengths, and the role our mind plays in bringing about this change.

Fondly known as the India’s First Blade Runner, DP Singh mentions that “disability, whether physical, emotional or mental, makes us think that we cannot do anything”, however our attitude itself makes us believe in our capability, and urges each member in the audience to manifest success for themselves by carrying the attitude of “I Can” at all times.

Despite his various injuries due to being grievously injured in Kargil and being more than 100% disabled, he is a proud Operation Vijay veteran, India’s first amputee marathon runner, as well as the Asian Record Holder as a disabled individual for solo skydiving from 12,500 ft, also being honoured with the award for “Excellence achieved against all odds”.
