and Welcome to a Traditional Prawns Rice (कोळंबी भात ) Episode of @RedSoilStories
The rain is pouring again from the beginning of Ganesh Chaturthi, though it was needed for the crops here. Farmers are happy that the rain has returned. I was also giving fertilizer to the crops that day, Pooja brought me Bhakri and Sukat bhaji for the breakfast as I had left early from home.
She had already brought Prawns from our local fish vendor. She returned home after giving me breakfast and started cleaning the prawns.
Pooja has decided to cook Prawns rice (कोळंबी भात ) today for the lunch. Prawns rice is similar to prawns biryani but this one is quick to prepare. Prawns rice is one of the favorite dish among non vegetarian lovers in most part of the country.
It is most prepared with King prawns which are larger in size. To prepare it, Pooja cleaned the prawns and marinated them with Salt, Ginger garlic paste and turmeric powder. She then prepared the masala for the prawns rice with khada masala, onion, tomato, malvani masala, garam masala and some other spices and cooked them for few minutes, then she added marinated prawns in it. Cooked again for few minutes and added the soaked rice, added water and let the rice cooked for 10-15 minutes.
Rice is cooked along with the prawns and the Prawns Rice is ready.
I returned home after my work is finished and we enjoyed the lunch together.
