Back to Sicily. Day 75. Special road trip to Melilli to see the Church of St. Sebastian.

Special road trip to Melilli, on the east coast of Sicily today. I rented a car, the cheapest in the lot from a local rental company, Sicily by Car...they ran out of my favorite tiny Italian tiny car, the Fiat Panda and gave me a free upgrade to a gigantic, extra large VW Golf which was a challenge to get out of the historic center of Palermo with all the narrow streets and alley ways. It was miracle I got out of town without a scratch! My cousin Stephanie and her husband, Rick got married many years ago in the Church of St. Sebastian in Middletown, CT...I don't remember attending the wedding but it turns out I was not even in the country on one of my summer Navy tours to the embassy in Colombia!!! Anyway, as a lawyer, I drove by St. Sebastian's Church in Middletown, CT almost every other month for hearings and trials at the Superior Court there, but never connected the dots before. The Chiesa di San Sebastian is the original Church replicated by immigrants from Melilli to Middletown, Connecticut years and years ago...it's an exact copy!!! Did they built it by memory or someone had a copy of the architect's plans??? Interesting factoid to know????
