Institute of Business Administration of University of Dhaka was founded in 1966 in collaboration with Indiana University Bloomington USA, under a Ford Foundation Financial Assistance Program with the objective of providing professional training to create future business leaders.
In response to the growing demand for business education at the undergraduate level, the BBA program was started in 1993. In 2007, the Executive MBA program was launched to cater to the growing demand for quality education among mid-career executives

The I B A of Jahangirnagar University offers a four-year course of study leading to a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, and an eighteen-month post-graduate Master of Business Administration program. Since May 2012, there is a Weekend MBA programme for working professionals.
As of October 2015, the institute admits 50 students every year to its undergraduate programme. 6,448 applicants took the competitive entrance exam for those seats.
