"As Kānaka Maoli, it is important to recognize that we are in constant communication with our ancestors who continue to be with us in this current temporal world."

Throwback Thursday: In 2002 Dr. Richard Kekuni Blaisdell took part in an interview where he revealed his thoughts pertaining to the troubles Kānaka Maoli face in the 21st century. Here he reminds listeners about the traditional concept of well being involving our three piko and how they keep us in touch with all things spiritual. Unfortunately due to heavy Western influence, rich concepts such as these are lost in many Hawaiian families today. In its place you will find belief systems that stem from societies other than our own.
