Yamanni-ryu Bojutsu preserves many traditional staff techniques not emphasized in other styles. Among these are movements such as saburi-zuki (furi-zuki) or swinging thrusts, as found in Choun no Kon Dai. This kata also expresses a combination of strikes to the leg immediately followed by traditional kesa-uchi, a diagonal strike. The versions of Choun no Kon belonging to the Taira and Matayoshi schools of Okinawan kobudo are unrelated. Modified for performance.
