The island itself is home to Isadou Resort, made up of 28 rustic and minimalistic bungalows that allow visitors to unplug from modern conveniences.

The surrounding area is home to the Maroons, the descendants of African slaves who escaped into the interior of Suriname after rebelling against their slave masters.
 
In this documentary, I’m taking you to explore the natural wonders in and around Isadou Island, from the lush and vibrant jungle, to the rapids and sols of the Suriname River. We’re also meeting the residents of nearby Jaw Jaw village, a Maroon settlement that redefines resilience and resourcefulness.
