Mozart seems to have completed his Rondo KV 386 for piano and orchestra on October 19, 1782. However, only two hundred years later, when it regained its original shape and length, was that this rondo could be appreciated and duly executed. The difficulties associated with it stem from injuries suffered by his manuscript in two different periods: the late eighteenth century, when the last three pages were lost and in the nineteenth century, with its dismemberment in many parts. The first attempt at reconstruction was the work of Alfred Einstein in 1936, followed by a more complete and accurate in 1962 by Sir Charles Mackerras and Paul Badura-Skoda. Finally, in 1980, the final pages were rediscovered in London and Alan Tyson edited version that uses since.

Mozart parece ter concluído seu Rondó KV 386 para piano e orquestra no dia 19 de outubro de 1782. Contudo, somente duzentos anos depois, quando recuperou sua forma e extensão originais, foi que este rondó pôde ser executado e apreciado devidamente. As dificuldades associadas a ele derivam dos danos sofridos pelo seu manuscrito em dois diferentes períodos: no final do século XVIII, quando as últimas três páginas foram perdidas e no século XIX, com o seu desmembramento em muitas partes. A primeira tentativa de reconstrução foi obra de Alfred Einstein em 1936, seguida de outra mais completa e acurada em 1962, de Sir Charles Mackerras e Paul Badura-Skoda. Finalmente, em 1980, as páginas finais foram reencontradas em Londres e Alan Tyson editou a versão que se utiliza desde então.
