Amtrak Hiawatha Service

Описание к видео Amtrak Hiawatha Service

Welcome aboard Amtrak Hiawatha Service #334 with service to Chicago Union Station from Milwaukee Intermodal Station! Our stops along the way today will be Milwaukee General Mitchell International Airport, Sturtevant, and Glenview. Today our train is led by an ex-F40PH NPCU "Cabbage" #90221 cab-control unit painted in the unique veteran's livery, a red, white, and blue paint scheme that honors U.S. Military personnel for their service.

Amtrak's Hiawatha Service is the shortest route in the entire Amtrak system after the New Haven-Springfield shuttle's 2019 extension. The distance between both endpoints of the Hiawatha service is only 86 miles (138 km) and all trains take on average around 90 minutes to complete the journey, even when minor delays are included. The Hiawatha Service is currently Amtrak's 9th busiest route overall and the busiest route in the Midwestern United States. Amtrak's Empire Builder, a long-distance train that runs from Chicago to Seattle/Portland, also uses the same line as Hiawatha Service trains, although the Empire Builder does not permit local traffic between Chicago and Milwaukee and also does not stop at Sturtevant or Milwaukee Airport. The entire line that both the Hiawatha Service and the Empire Builder use from Chicago to Milwaukee is called the Chicago and Milwaukee (C&M) subdivision, and is owned and operated by the Canadian Pacific Railroad (CP) through their U.S. subsidiary the Soo Line Railroad. As a result, CP freight trains of all different kinds are a frequent sight along this route.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the journey!
