Test of Kinetic Wall Sculpture

Описание к видео Test of Kinetic Wall Sculpture

This is one of the first testing of the almost finished kinetic sculpture. It need to be fine tuned. I will use tiny lead strips and glue them on the back side of the moving parts in order to find the proper value or relation. This will increase the running time on one winding.

This sculpture was strongly influenced by David C. Roy design Solo, but it is not a copy. It is of different details and mechanical solutions, and very much smaller. But the awerall apearance is pretty close. I was challenged to make something from scratch, but in order not to run into dead end street, I try to do something similar in order not to fail complete at my first attempt.

I design my own system of timing and turning the first element, and I was forced to cheat the system using magnets embeded in aluminum and wooden parts. My DIY CNC machine was a great help to making this sculpture. After a day of running, I noticed a wear of the toothed wheel, so I will redesign its shape shortly.
