MO Spot Fire Workshop Leaf Blower Demo

From the Spot Fire Suppression Workshop held in Collins, MO, April 20th 2024 - after having the students work with rakes and backpack pumps, now it's time for "easy mode" with the leaf blower!

2x-3x the line width in a fraction of the time!

This is the first run of this Workshop in Western Missouri - it has been run previously at Shaw Nature Reserve just outside St Louis since 2021. Now we're taking the show on the road!

We're teaching private landowners, Prescribed Burn Association members, Fire Contractors, and others to safely suppress spot fires that may occur on a Prescribed Fire! All training occurred on a specially-prepared Prescribed Fire unit, within the "moderate" range of the prescription, with safety as a top priority.

CADRE:
Mark Howell of Grounded Truths LLC served as Course Coordinator and Instructor. Mark is in his 19th year working in Wildland and Prescribed Fire across the US.
Ryan Gauger hosted the workshop at his private farm and served as Lead Instructor/Burn Boss. Ryan has been in Wildland and Prescribed Fire for over 16 years and is a nationally-recognized leader in promoting, executing, and teaching Prescribed Fire.
Len Gilmore is retired from the Missouri Dept of Conservation, and remains in Prescribed Fire practice with the Upper Osage PBA. Len has nearly 40 years of Wildland and Prescribed Fire experience.
ALL 3 Cadre members have significant experience as Initial Attack Incident Commanders, Prescribed Fire Burn Bosses, and in teaching Wildland Fire courses.
