Hello Shiners !

Today we have a pair of Free Bird Casey booties. These didn't need much work since they are still new but, the Mrs wanted me to give them the new shoe treatment. I wanted to provide this video for a few reasons. There aren't many women shoe care videos out there. Even though leather is leather and it doesn't matter who is wearing it (you care for it the same) most women's shoes have certain characteristics that men's shoes don't. For example These Casey boots feature painted on patina with a snake printed and embossed calf skin vamp/toe. When dealing with painted on patinas and other finishes that are not impregnated into the leather its easy to ruin the finish. You have to be careful with the products you choose to use. The fact that most women's shoes feature this sort of delicate finishing is one of the reasons women's shoe care is neglected. The task is simply intimidating. My go to conditioner for these sort of jobs is Bickmore Bick 4. Bick 4 doesn't darken finished leather and is gentle (lacking most of the heavy oils, fats, and solvents some conditioners have) . for example, these Freebird Casey boots have some fine white distressing details on the heels and heel counter that could have been easily buffed off with the wrong conditioner but I was able to get these booties beautifully conditioned without any issues. hopefully this will help anyone out there unsure of what conditioner to use one their delicately finished leathers.
