Tekken 7 moves in real life performed by MMA coach Ramsey Dewey.

While the motion capture experts working for the game studio probably repped these moves out until they got them just right, we just looked at the video game footage and did the moves. I don’t know much about Tekken, but the throws from the character Sergei Dragunov are mostly based on real Russian sambo techniques (moves you will also see in judo, MMA, and BJJ)

Sergei’s move set involves a lot of fancy looking, but shockingly effective throws and leg locks: heel hooks, knee bars, straight ankle locks, armbars, the fireman’s carry, aka kata garuma, variations of the single leg takedown, including one of my favorites I learned from both a Russian sambo master and a former Chinese sanda champion.

All I have to say is that video games have come a very long way since Pong, when you can look at moves from a fighting game, and pull them off in real life.
