ALL-STAR BREAK: Shohei Wins Derby & Huge ASG Blowout - Colorado Rockies Rebuild Franchise - Ep. 22

Helllooo everybody and come along for the ride as I take on the task of rebuilding the Colorado Rockies here on MLB The Show 24.

In this episode, we kick things off with some long balls in the 2025 Homerun Derby championship round from Truist Park. Shohei Ohtani participates in his third Derby, making the final round for the 2nd consecutive year, although he fell to Patrick Wisdom last year. Now he has his hands full with Yordan Alvarez in what was an exciting finish.

We'll then advance to the All-Star game which features Logan Webb and Kevin Gausman as the starting pitchers for the National League and American League, respectively. Last year the NL won in a 4-3 nailbiter. However, this season it was a much different script as the winning side crushed the ball en route to plating a dozen runs with 20+ hits. We'll also get some action in with Max Fried, the Rockies' lone All-Star representative as he returns to his previous ballpark in Atlanta.

Following the All-Star festivities, we'll get back on track with a dozen games left to sim before the trade deadline. The Rockies open post-All-Star break with an impressive series win over the Texas Rangers as they hoover around 500 working through the end of July. We'll also get a player lock game in with the newly acquired Jo Adell.

In the next episode, we start with the Year 2 Trade Deadline as the Rockies enter as sellers. Cal Quantrill headlines the pitching market and will likely be on the move as contenders look to bolster their rotation. With Brendan Rodgers on an expiring deal and no years left of arbitration, Colorado is at a crossroads on whether they should move him. However, they may field offers but demand an enticing package of prospects in return.
