After Dark Holiday Cooking 😴 Egg Nog, Chocolate Covered Cherries, & Sausage Balls

Sausage Balls
Ingredients:
1 pound sausage
16 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 or 2 cups Bisquick

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix all ingredients and roll into balls.
If you like them more meaty than bready just use one cup of the bisquick.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, until sausage is cooked through.

Egg nog
Ingredients:
2 cups milk
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cinnamon
6 egg yolks
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Heat milk, cream, nutmeg, and cinnamon over medium low heat until it just starts to boil.
Reduce heat to low.
Mix egg yolks and maple syrup in a small bowl.
Add 1/3 cup of the warmed milk mixture to egg mixtures slowly to temper the egg yolks.
Add egg yolk mixture to the pot and cook on low until it reaches 160 degrees.
Remove from heat and add vanilla.

Chocolate covered cherries
Ingredients:
30 maraschino cherries with stems
3 tablespoons butter softened
3 tablespoons corn syrup
2 cups powdered sugar sifted
1 pound chocolate candy coating
Instructions:
Drain cherries and set on paper towels to dry.
Combine butter and corn syrup, in a medium bowl, until smooth. Stir in powdered sugar and mix to form a dough. Chill for 30 minutes.
Wrap each cherry in 1 teaspoon of dough and chill again in the freezer for 20-30 minutes.
While cherries are chilling, melt candy coating according to package directions. Dip each cherry in the chocolate and place on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet.
