Today, we welcome Simon Tam well-known activist and musician of the band “The Slants” which he founded. Simon Tam has won the Mark T. Banner award from the bar association and rose to prominence across the USA for winning a landmark case at the Supreme Court of the United States in 2017.
He has been featured in thousands of media articles in 129 countries ranging from the New York Times to the Daily Show with Trevor Noah to Aljazeera. In addition to this, he has written a memoir Slanted: How an Asian American Troublemaker Took on the Supreme Court which was named “One of the best books on the Constitution” by BookAuthority. Also, he has given numerous TedX talks, among them the tongue-in-cheek titled “Give racism a chance”. He is a co-founder of The Slants Foundation as well, a nonprofit organization that provides support and pushes the envelope in arts, civic engagement, and activism. Simon Tam famously calls himself a “troublemaker”.
