During a career of more than 25 years, photographer, Fazal Sheikh has focused on raising awareness of international human-rights issues through his critically acclaimed work. The artist discusses his documentary-based photography practice and Common Ground, which features more than 170 portraits and landscapes chronicling individuals living in displaced and marginalized communities around the world, many times as the result of war, exploitation, and poverty.

This lecture is an Arnold Newman Distinguished Lecture in Photography and was recorded on March 11, 2018, in Portland Art Museum's Whitsell Auditorium.
