LocoRoco Midnight Carnival - PSP - Intro & Stages 1-4 Gameplay with Mini-games [UHD 4K60]

Sony sure know how to make obscure entries in large franchises that just about everyone forgets about. Nothing quite beats making your game download only on a dying system near the end of its life, that was also a tie in for the launch of the ill-conceived PSP Go system in Japan. A digital only version of the PSP console, that couldn't play 2/3 of the PSP library as it didn't have a UMD drive and many games didn't get a digital release oops. The fate of the PSP Go is well documented and lets just says words and phases such as disaster, lead balloon, flop and failure can all be used in conjunction with it.

This Ladies and Gentlemen is what happened with LocoRoco Midnight Carnival the brilliant third entry in the LocoRoco series was released. Much like the PSP Go we suspect the game was a bit of a flop on the PlayStation Store, but at present it is still available to buy and if you enjoyed the previous games in the series, is a must buy. This is a platformer and a puzzle game rolled into one where the aim is to guide the Locoroco's to the end of the stage, by tilting the game world left and right. Each stage feels very different and you can swap between any of the LocoRoco from the menu, there is also a rather fun set of mini-games you can unlock.

Midnight Carnival picks up from where LocoRoco 2 finished and has an increased difficulty as a result. So unless you want a challenge from the get go playing the first or second game may be a better starting point for your first experience with the series. The art and music, perfectly match the gameplay in a happy bright and colourful world. The opening intro in the video is utterly fantastic and the fact the character art for the BuiBui is lip synced with the music, show off the level of polish in this game. This is a work of art and a must own title for any self respecting PSP owner. You can buy a ultimate edition bundle on the UK score for £4.99, which includes the three DLC levels. Gamers be warned the last stage from the DLC is designed for series veterans only.
