El Polifemo de Oro by Reginald Smith Brindle was originally written in 1956 and later revised in 1981. This is a serialist work that uses elements of tonality to add to the effect of tension and relaxation. Brindles intricate use of complex rhythms, dynamics, and tone color allow a performer to be expressive despite the lack of a traditional melody and harmony.

This piece was recorded on a 2016 Jeremy Cooper classical guitar made with a Western Red Cedar Double Top and East Indian Rosewood back and sides.
