Learn simple tips on how to make homemade Tangzhong. Bread softener also commonly known as Tangzhong it is a method to maintain the bread soft and moist. Its retain the moisture in the bread for longer period.

Only 2 ingredients needed :

32gm All Purposes Flour / Bread Flour (sifted)
160gm Filtered Water ( Do Not Use Hot Water)

Cooking Method:

1) Pour filtered water into a cleaned saucepan, add in sifted flour.

2) Do Not turn ON heat at this point. Stir and mix till flour and water well combined and make sure no lumpy flour in the mixture before cooking it.

3) Once it is ready, turn ON heat and cook the mixture on Low-Medium heat.
NOTE : Do Not cook on high heat. Occasionally, remove saucepan from the heat, continue stirring to avoid getting lumpy texture and avoid getting it burn.

4) Continue to stir the mixture till you get a thicken texture but not dry out.
NOTE : Once the mixture starts to thicken and it sticks on the whisk or the mixture holds its shape and not runny/watery when you stir it then it's an indicator to shows that Tangzhong is cooked.

5) Let it completely cool before use or storing. To store Tangzhong for future use, keep it in a cleaned container, keep in the fridge overnight for next day use or freeze it the freezer as it can last up to a month.
