DEAD MALL - Chautauqua Mall - Jamestown New York | ERA_Productions

Hello everyone, welcome to the Chautauqua Mall in Jamestown New York. Opening in 1971, Chautauqua Mall would be the premier mall for the Jamestown and Chautauqua Lake region anchors when open consisted of Sears, JCPenney, Woolworths, and quality markets. Anchors would shift around quite a bit in the 80s and 90s, as JCPenney would be converted to a Jamesway for a short period of time, before JCPenney returned to the space in 1997. The 90s would also see Woolworths be converted to a Bon Ton. 1997 would also see a renovation happen in the mall, and a food court be added, however, the food court would not be successful, losing every tenant they would get over the brief operation. The food court would be replaced with a planet fitness, however, the mall would still be doing well in the 2000s. It wasn’t until the late 2010s when things would start going south. 2018 saw Bon Ton close its doors and Sears followed shortly after in 2019. Since those anchors have left, Chautauqua Mall has been dying a pretty quick death, and Kohan retail now owns the mall. Let’s take a walk through the dying Chautauqua Mall and see what it holds in store!
