Central sensitization (CS) is a key factor in pain disorders including chronic pain, temporomandibular disorders, low back pain, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, headache, lateral epicondylalgia etc... Despite increased understanding of the underlying mechanisms, the treatment of CS still remains a challenging issue. Dr Jo Nijs will review all available treatment options for desensitising the CNS in patients with CS pain, including strategies for eliminating peripheral sources of nociception, pharmacotherapy, conservative interventions that primarily address top-down (brain-orchestrated) mechanisms, pain neuroscience education, cognitive behavioural and physical therapies and combinations of different strategies, each targeting a different 'desensitizing' mechanism.

Prof. Jo Nijs is giving "Central Sensitization and Nociplastic Pain in Patients with Persistent Pain: Latest Discoveries & Implications for (Neuro)surgery" conference, don't miss it!
