F-5E vs MiG-21 - Battle for Dire Dawa (Ogaden War 1977)

Описание к видео F-5E vs MiG-21 - Battle for Dire Dawa (Ogaden War 1977)

In July 1977. a war between Ethiopia and Somalia broke out over the province of Ogaden. This part of internationally recognized territory of Ethiopia was considered by Somalia to be theirs because of the Somalis living there. Superior Somali ground forces quickly advanced. But Ethiopia had one powerful card - their Air Force. Trained by the USA and equipped mostly by several variants of Northrop's F-5, Ethiopian pilots were able to establish air superiority over Soviet-trained Somali pilots flying MiGs.
This would prove to be especially true during the battle of Dire Dawa, an Ethiopian Air Force base where F-5s were able to destroy lots of Somali armor and several air-to-air victories over MiGs were scored at that time as well.
Two Cold War era fighters available in DCS World again clash in this historical reenactment.
