Maytag dishwasher touchpad buttons temp fix

My start button went out on my Maytag MDB8959SBS2 and I was going to replace the control panel until I found out how expensive they were and decided to try a temporary fix first as I had nothing to lose.

Prior to attempting this fix I turned off the breaker and allowed the dishwasher time to reset. I’ve seen this fix work for other people, also sometimes disconnecting and reconnecting the wiring harness works.

Neither worked for me but peeling off the control panel overlay and cleaning under the start button resolved my issue, best part is you don’t even have to take the dishwasher apart to get to it.

You will damage the overlay but considering this part is hidden when the dishwasher is shut I couldn’t care less.

I take no responsibility for you breaking your stuff, this is a good last resort temp fix, mines been working great since the repair I’ll update this video when it does finally fail, good luck!
