By the early 80's the Temptations were not having much success on the pop charts and changed lead singers yet again by bringing in Detroit native Ali-Ollie Woodson who was once considered to replace Dennis Edwards.

"Treat Her Like A Lady" was the first single issued with Ali-Ollie and it revitalized the group by reaching #2 on the R&B chart but #48 on the Hot100 becoming their biggest hit since 1975. He gave the band three solid R&B hits until he was fired for his tardiness in 1987, whereupon Dennis Edwards returned to replace him.

Then Edwards was fired in 1988 and so Woodson was back in.

In 1989 the Temptations finally were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
