PULLEY SYSTEMS With *Progress Capture* for Hauling! DISCUSSION & DEMONSTRATION for Climbers!

Описание к видео PULLEY SYSTEMS With *Progress Capture* for Hauling! DISCUSSION & DEMONSTRATION for Climbers!

In this episode, I will go over how to construct and use a variety of pulley systems which can effectively and efficiently be used to haul any load. Each of these systems will include a progress capture element and a COD (change of direction pulley). I will begin with a “complex” 2:1 and end with a “complex” 9:1 mechanical advantage system. The greater the values, the lesser the load that a climber has to actually lift on the other end of the system, but the more complex the system will (usually) be. A "piggyback" setup can be used with any one of these pulley systems.

In addition to showing various systems and their construction, I include helpful tips at the end of the video for operating any pulley system safely. They include doubling up on the prusiks used at the first pulley; using a descender device (such as a GriGri or Rig) to take in slack as you pull up a load, allowing for a redundant system and an easy way/controlled way to lower it; using a multicender device (such as a Rope Runner or Unicender or Akimbo) for the same purpose; tying periodic overhead knots in a bight as you raise a load to endure that it won’t slip very far if the prusik were to fail; and, finally, one that wasn’t in the video, buying rigging plates to allow for easy organization of your haul system pulleys.
