Stonehenge is a famous and ancient monument located in Wiltshire, England. It's made up of big standing stones arranged in a circular layout. These stones are massive, with some standing taller than a double-decker bus! Here are some cool things to know about Stonehenge:

Age: Stonehenge is very old! It was built over 4,000 years ago, which means it was there long before things like castles or even the ancient pyramids of Egypt were built.

How?: One of the biggest mysteries about Stonehenge is how it was built. The large stones, called "sarsens", are really heavy, weighing up to 30 tons. People back then didn't have modern machinery, so they had to use clever methods and lots of teamwork to move and set up these stones.

Purpose: No one knows exactly why Stonehenge was built, which makes it even more mysterious! Some people think it was a temple, while others believe it was an ancient calendar or even a place for healing.

Sun Alignment: One fascinating thing about Stonehenge is its alignment with the sun. During the summer solstice, which is the longest day of the year, the sun rises just over a specific part of Stonehenge called the 'Heel Stone'. Many people believe this can't be just a coincidence and that the people who built Stonehenge must have had special reasons for setting it up this way.

Bluestones: Inside the main circle of big sarsens, there's another circle made of smaller stones called 'bluestones'. What's interesting is that these stones come from a place over 200 miles away in Wales! How they were transported to Stonehenge is another big mystery.

Tourist Attraction: Today, many people from all over the world visit Stonehenge to see its beauty and wonder about its history. It's protected as a World Heritage Site, which means it's an important place that we should take care of for future generations to enjoy.
