In this guest lecture, Andy Payne will share some of his recent work creating computational tools for designers. Recorded on 2023/10/19.

Andy Payne is a licensed architect and software developer at Robert McNeel & Associates. He completed his Doctor of Design degree at Harvard's Graduate School of Design in 2014. He has lectured and taught workshops throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe and his work has received awards from several leading academic organizations. Andy has also co-authored several software plugins and desktop applications including: 1) Firefly, a plugin which connects physical hardware devices like sensors, actuators, microcontrollers, and other input/output devices to Grasshopper’s parametric modeling environment, and 2) Monolith, a desktop application for voxel-based simulations and modeling. At Robert McNeel & Associates, he is currently working on the Grasshopper and Rhino.Compute projects for the Rhino 3D modeling environment.
