Top tips for depicting bright sunlight in watercolor painting

Have you experienced the frustration of trying to paint bright sunlight and ending up with a muddled look for your painting? Guess what, the secret is in how you paint the shadows! In this tutorial I'm going to show you how to depict white or light objects in sunlight with a focus on painting vivid shadows.

First I'm going to let you compare the difference of my own painting BEFORE and AFTER I figured out how to depict vivid shadows. And then I'm going to demonstrate 4 core techniques:
1) Mix a variety of bright colors for the shadow
2) Thicken up blue color mixture to match up to the yellow and red mixture
3) Use red color to transition between yellow and blue colors
4) Paint white objects first, and then determine how dark or light the surrounding objects should be
