Introduced by Polaroid in 1977, Polavision was an instant 8mm home movie system that allowed colour footage to be developed and replayed within 90 seconds. Unfortunately, due to technical shortcomings, poor market research, and bad timing, Polavision was a commercial disaster, losing Polaroid tens of millions of dollars and triggering the company’s slow but inevitable slide into bankruptcy.
