Replacing a front ball joint on a 2001 Ford Escape. Ball joint replacement requires pressing out the old one from the control arm...and pressing in a new one. If no press is available, the alternative is to replace the control arm assembly, which includes a pre-installed ball joint. The video shows the driver's side, but the process is the same for the passenger's side. Covers 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 Ford Escapes, Mazda Tributes and Mercury Mariners.

*Torque values for the rear mounting bolt:

2001 & 2002 - 148 ft/lbs
2003 - 133 ft/lbs
2004 to 2006 - 148 ft/lbs
2007 to 2012 - 110 ft/lbs
