What are some of the strangest Asian immigrant communities around the world today? Asia is a massive continent with billions of people, the majority of humanity today. As could be expected, there is naturally quite a large number of Asians who have moved outside of their country or region of origin and gone far and wide, both in the distant past and in recent times. Some examples of this include the spread of Austronesians to Madagascar and the islands of Oceania, or through the migration of ancient north Eurasians into the Americas several thousand years ago. However, in today's video, we're mostly going to be looking at some of the more modern diaspora communities made up from immigrants from East and Southeast Asia, which is primarily what is meant when Americans use the term Asian in a racial connotation. Some of these interesting diaspora groups include Filipinos in Alaska and the Arctic, Hmong and Javanese in the Guianas, Japanese in Brazil, Thai in Scandinavia and many other unique communities around the world.
