2015+ Dodge Charger Drive Shaft Clicking/Clunking (and Replacement)

Описание к видео 2015+ Dodge Charger Drive Shaft Clicking/Clunking (and Replacement)

If you're just looking for where I got this replacement, this is the vendor https://www.actionmachineinc.com/ I worked with, they seemed to be very knowledgeable and I also discussed their single piece drive shaft to see if I did want to go that route, I opted for the OEM replacement for the time being. Would highly recommend them if you need any parts.

I ran into a somewhat well known issue where the center carrier bearing on the drive shaft fails, scouring the forums many people got their drive shafts replaced under factory warranty, however I contacted Dodge, as well as my local Dodge dealer about my car's CPO warranty which is still valid for another year, and I learned that the "Drive Shaft" is not included in the "Drive Train" warranty... Go figure...
I didn't have any luck finding good sources of video showing the process step by step on the replacement process, there are plenty of videos out there that are quick.
Searching for a replacement I found plenty of 1 piece drive shafts, however they seem to require modification to the exhaust system which I wasn't prepared to do (could make life easier on the install though) and that Dorman makes a factory replacement available at most auto parts stores. I stumbled upon a somewhat local shop that manufactures drive shafts, they had a factory replacement for a significant cost delta from the Dorman 986-041 or Mopar replacements, I called and spoke with them to figure out why they were SO much cheaper. Speaking with them they had great answers, the drive shaft they provide may actually be a 1:1 as they said it may even be the same manufacturer Dorman is using. The important part is, I got a replacement, and it didn't cost an arm and a leg... still expensive though when considering the Mopar "warranty" I have from when I bought the car.
