How much civil engineer can earn in UK 2022. What is a salary for setting out and site engineer. What money you can get when you're starting as junior engineer, or an assistant. What you will be expected in the job.

Today we’ll have a look at the civil engineer’s salary in UK in 2022. I will show you how much money you can earn working when you start as a junior/assistant engineer then setting out engineer and a site engineer. I’ll cover quickly these roles, so you know which one is the right one for you.
👷‍♂️👷‍♀️ JUNIOR ENGINEER / ASSISTANT ENGINEER 140 - 160£ 👉 Don’t stress too much as you’re there to learn. The quicker you’ll learn the better for you and the sooner you jump to an independent role. Sometimes you might be just working as a cube man and in other cases you will actually be working as a setting out engineer for assistant’s money and that would be the time to make a move (once you feel confident enough)
👷‍♀️👷‍♂️ SETTING OUT ENGINEER 220 – 260£ 👉 This role will be mostly focused on levelling the site, marking lines and doing surveys. Here you must know how to use the EDM and lasers (surveying equipment) and be comfortable with drawings enough to take the basic info. Remember that in this case you will be the one to provide information to site, so you’re actually expected to be on site nearly all the time.
👷‍♂️👷‍♀️ SITE ENGINEER 240-280£ 👉 As a site engineer you will be responsible for QA (sometimes QA engineer), contact with client, procedures and often Temporary Works supervision. This position also requires setting out (not always!) knowledge so there is no clear line between setting out role and site engineer one.
👷‍♀️👷‍♂️SENIOR ENGINEER will be making 300-350£ 👉 but you will need more experience for this role and I’ll do a separate video on it 😁
Please remember that this is all dependant on the project size as often you will be working in theory as a setting out engineer and will be dealing with all other things including QA, contacting client, temporary works etc. Contrary site engineer’s position may end up with most of your time setting out on site. The bigger the project the smaller your responsibilities range and the smaller the project you’ll be involved in more various activities.
