LDL Risks and Benefits of Ketogenic Therapy- with Dr. William Cromwell

Описание к видео LDL Risks and Benefits of Ketogenic Therapy- with Dr. William Cromwell

Dr. William Cromwell is an expert on heart health as a Lipidologist and the Chief Medical Officer of Precision Health Reports. In this interview with Dr. Bret Scher, he discusses the Lipid Energy Model (LEM) and whether or not lean mass hyper-responders (LMHR) on a ketogenic diet should be concerned about elevated LDL cholesterol. He argues for highly personalized medicine that modifies treatments based on individual needs. For example, in LMHRs, high LDL indicates an adaptive physiological response resulting from trafficking energy differently and this probably shouldn’t be treated the same as a traditional high LDL case.

Dr. Cromwell shares other tests, better than LDL, to get a clearer overall picture of heart health and make informed decisions about the need for any dietary modifications. As many LMHRs follow a ketogenic diet to treat other health conditions, they need to weigh the risks and benefits carefully.

Dr. Cromwell is proudly data-driven and sees evolutions in his perspective over time as a positive sign. He shares that more research and data are needed on the Lipid Energy Model and LMHRs.

Dr. Cromwell is a co-author on Dr. Nick Norwitz’s Oreo Study:

About us:
Metabolic Mind is a non-profit initiative of Baszucki Group working to transform the study and treatment of mental disorders by exploring the connection between metabolism and brain health. We leverage the science of metabolic psychiatry and personal stories to offer education, community, and hope to people struggling with mental health challenges and those who care for them.

Our channel is for informational purposes only. We are not providing individual or group medical or healthcare advice nor establishing a provider-patient relationship.
