Need for Speed 7 (Underground) - Port Royal in under

With Need for Speed Heat on the horizon I decided to do a quick revisit of the 21 previous NFS games leading up to the launch of Heat. Here you can see Need for Speed 7 (Underground), which was released in 2003 for various platforms. In this game I recorded a very fast full race on Port Royal with the Mazda RX-7.

NFS Underground is generally viewed as the start of the second generation of NFS games, inspired by the Fast and Furious movies. After 5 games without any Japanese cars we now suddenly had quite a lot of them and instead of tracks in many different locations we now had all of them in one big city, although in Underground 1 there was no free roam option yet.

NFSU also introduced Drag and Drift modes in addition to Circuit and Sprint and the option to install nitrous, although in this game it didn't recharge during the race yet.

Like all 21 main NFS games Need for Speed Underground can be played on a modern PC with Windows 10 and there is also a widescreen mod for it.

Underground 1 was the first NFS game that I ever played on PC and the first video game that I ever played competitively in leagues and tournaments. There are 8 circuit tracks in the game and I am pretty familiar with all of them.

I have already shown some fast full races on Atlantica, Stadium and Market Street in the past, so for this video I picked Port Royal, which is one of my favorite tracks. There are actually two different ways to do the final section that are almost equally fast. For this video I decided to go with the left route.

A flawless race for me on this track consists of a first lap with nitrous under 45 and then all the flying laps under 41. I might do another video in the future where I try to do it over 10 laps but for this one I went with the standard 6 laps that we used in competitive play back in the days.

I will attempt to show you all 21 existing NFS games before the release of Heat, so expect to see a video almost every day from now until the release of Heat and on some days even two. :)
