Although being very flexible has some advantages, it can result in reduced joint stability, resulting in frequent sprains and strains as well as 'clicking' joints. In the long term it may result in greater wear and tear to the joints.



Hypermobile people often don't recognize it, in fact they often feel stiff because their muscles become tight in an attempt to provide more stability to the joints. It's important to find the right type of exercise that helps improve stability without increasing the risk of joint damage.
